Hitch

Following your feedback, we have decided to integrate a hitch ball (for VW T5 and T6 vehicles) on the equipment carrier to be able to always tow a trailer. The ball will be installed on the "hitch" part of the equipment carrier. This last one will have to be removed from the hitch to tow a trailer.

In order to install the equipment carrier, it is necessary to remove the hitch that may already be present to replace it with the "SKEP hitch". The advantage of already having a hitch is that an electrical harness and a 13-pin plug will already be present on the vehicle, which greatly facilitates the installation of the equipment carrier.

The equipment carrier is sold with its hitch. Only the electrical part on the vehicle side is not included (electrical harness with 13-pin plug).

Fitting

Yes, we have created videos that explain in detail how to assemble the holder.

Yes, we have developed an assembly network throughout France and neighboring countries, so you can have the equipment carrier mounted on your vehicle.

The equipment carrier is divided into 3 sub-assemblies:

- Set 1 the SKEP hitch: it makes the link between the vehicle chassis and the equipment carrier. It is bolted to the chassis.

- Set of 2 horizontal crosspieces + the 2 arms: it is bolted to the hitch by 4 screws.

- Set 3 the vertical uprights receiving the modules: they are bolted to set 2 with 4 screws per upright.

With 2 persons, it is preferable to dismantle the whole equipment carrier from its hitch and to put it on the ground (duration of the operation 5-10min). If you are alone, it is preferable to dismantle the set 3 and then the set 2 to facilitate the handling (duration of operation 15-20min). It goes without saying that it is necessary to empty the contents of the modules (bicycles, crate contents, jerry cans, etc.) to lighten the set as much as possible.

The weight of the equipment carrier is approximately 60kg excluding modules.

200kg payload: this load may vary depending on the carrier vehicle. The weight of the equipment carrier and its payload are counted in the GVWR (now MMA) of the vehicle.

With padlocks and cables that are attached to the structure of the rack. It's up to you to choose what suits you best.

Yes, to operate on doors, you have to select the option "doors" in the configurator.

The equipment carrier is positioned after the bumper which makes the rear radars inoperative as on a bike carrier installed on a towball. On certain vehicles (certain versions of the VW T6 for example), the fact of connecting the 13 pin plug of the additional lights of the equipment carrier automatically deactivates the rear radars.

We are currently testing a wireless rear view camera, installed on the equipment carrier, with transmission of the video signal via WiFi to the smartphone. This camera can be connected to the electrical harness of the equipment carrier with connectors reserved for this purpose. The advantage of a wireless camera is that it does not require the passage of a cable carrying the video signal between the rear and front of the vehicle. This operation can be complex with the layout of our vans.

We have designed the equipment carrier to be fully modular. This makes it very easy to switch from winter to summer configuration and back again. It takes about 15 minutes to remove the ski racks and replace them with the bike rails.

We have strategically placed rivet nuts on the frame of the carrier, which allows for the installation of a multitude of additional accessories: recovery tracks, leveling wedges, Rotopax canister, 4G antenna; and anything else you can imagine!

We have developed a motorcycle carrier module that can also carry heavy bicycles horizontally.
